Serving our local community and beyond, our farm strives to supply the freshest produce possible. Through our many avenues of sales, our customers are always guaranteed to be supported in their respected communities. All of our inputs in the farm (soil, seeds, equipment etc) come from the local community or from the farm itself, making sure we are staying as locally sourced as possible.
CSA Model
Our model is largely based around a community supported agriculture (CSA) system where our members essentially buy a share of the farm for the season. Their subscription includes 15 weeks of fresh organic produce boxes delivered right to their door. By supporting your community grown vegetables you are not only receiving fresh all natural produce on a regular basis, but also helping grow that local communities agriculture system.
Organic No-Till Farming
Our farm operates on a no-till style of farming. This means we never turn over (till) our soil, allowing for soil structure and soil microbiology to remain intact. We never use harmful herbicides, pesticides or fungicides and we make it a point to work with the natural processes, not against them. We strongly follow a restorative agriculture program, using biodiversity as one of the key drivers on the farm.
Diverse Crop List
Fern Valley Farm's CSA box is a hand picked selection of up to 8 different fresh vegetables and herbs. Our CSA boxes change with the seasons, meaning the contents of your spring box may differ from those of the summer boxes. We grow over 25 common and specialized crops ranging from cherry tomatoes to our salad mix, Asian greens, and cut flowers. For example, our spring/fall CSA box may include; carrots, beets, radishes, salad mix, green onions, kale, and a flower bouquet.
Convenient Delivery or Pick Up
Included in your CSA subscription is our convenient hassle-free delivery option. We try to keep a tight schedule around the farm, making deliveries once a week (usually on the weekends starting in the morning) anywhere between Hockley Valley and the Greater Toronto Area. We also offer a pick up day where customers are able to come directly to the farm and pick up their fresh vegetable boxes.
